It's long overdue for fans and executives to move on from the mindset that "R&B is dead." As the genre continues to change with new-age musicianship and artists taking notes from past eras, R&B is very much alive. While award show season continues to shine throughout the rest of the year, there's one ceremony that honors the best in R&B, soul, and gospel—the Soul Train Awards.
Over the past year, R&B artists have displayed how much they stand out from the rest. Whether it's Beyonce releasing her visual album "Black Is King," H.E.R. curating an R&B festival, Brandy making a comeback, or PJ Morton venturing into gospel—artists are proving how much they dominate in the industry.
H.E.R. leads the pack with eight Soul Train Awards nominations, followed by Chris Brown with seven. Artists such as Babyface, Ella Mai, Jazmine Sullivan, Lucky Daye, and Monica are slated to perform.
The 2020 Soul Train Awards is set to air on November 29 with hosts Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell. Before the ceremony gets underway, check out our predictions for this year's winners.
