Chael Sonnen Responds To Jorge Masvidal's Fight Callout With Classic Line: 'I Will Not Let Him Get Close...'
Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

During his recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Jorge Masvidal revealed beef that he has with Chael Sonnen.

Specifically, "Gamebred" has a problem with Sonnen's history regarding performance-enhancing drugs, which he has been very open about in the past.

Comments like this were never going to slip past Sonnen's radar and it was only a matter of time before "The Bad Guy" had something to say in response.

This beef appeared to come out of nowhere, but considering both men's reputations, it's hardly surprising that they would exchange words at some point.

Sonnen Tells Masvidal He Won't Let Him Get Close

Sonnen responded to Masvidal's comments during a recent YouTube video on his channel, during which he made sure to fire back at "Gamebred".

He specifically made reference to one of the most iconic lines that he delivered during his UFC run back when he was coaching The Ultimate Fighter across from Wanderlei Silva.

Say "I can't let you get close" to any MMA fan and they'll probably know what you're referencing from that one confrontation with Silva on the series.

In this case, Sonnen is quick to state that with he and Masvidal are set to be in the same place at the same time in a matter of days, and he will not take the former BMF champion's threats for granted.

"Either way, policy will still be applied. I will not let him get close. I cannot trust Jorge Masvidal. Jorge Masvidal will be in Miami next week, where I will be. Jorge Masvidal will be at a fight next week, where I will be. I mean, it sounds to me like we're starting to bring pieces together.

"Now he will have to wave to me, I will have to send up an usher to bring him a few levels down so we can get a little bit closer to the action where I'll be seated, but we can have that chat. I will be the person in the nice trimmed suit with the somewhat dimmed glasses and a crowd of people onlooking. I assume he will be the thug with a hood up that I need to have my eye out for."
