Cleveland Cavaliers Finally Break Playoff Curse In Post-LeBron James Era
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

After years  of failing in the postseason, Donovan Mitchell finally exorcised his demons by putting up a historic performance for the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Orlando Magic. Turns out, the All-Star is ushering the team to its best era yet since LeBron James left the franchise.

Just recently, the Cavs took care of business by getting the 106-94 win over a Paolo Banchero-led Magic team. Mitchell put on an impressive show by dropping 39 points, 24 in the second half, nine rebounds, and five assists to help Cleveland erase an 18-point first half lead. Evan Mobley added 11 points and 16 assists, while Caris LeVert tallied 15 points from the bench.

For his part, Banchero led Orlando by finishing the game with 38 points and 16 rebounds. Apart from the All-Star forward, though, only Jalen Suggs and Wendel Carter Jr. scored in double-digits with 10 and 13 points, respectively. The Magic’s performance highlighted the lack of offense outside of Banchero, which led to their Game 7 loss.

The win helped Cleveland advance to the next round where Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics are waiting for them. Meanwhile, the Magic will now head into the offseason and attempt to revamp their roster to come up with a more competitive team. In any case, both teams have displayed unbelievable talent and heart in Game 7 as fans gave both Mitchell and Banchero the flowers they deserve.

Donovan Mitchell Puts Up Historic Performance for Post-LeBron James Cleveland Cavaliers

After the game, Mitchell was on the receiving end of so many raves for getting the Game 7 win over Orlando. StatMuse shared a tweet that highlighted the All-Star’s performance and gave more credibility to his insane playoff showing.

“Cavs won a playoff series without LeBron James for the first time since 1993,” StatMuse tweeted.

It’s no secret the Cavaliers haven’t been relevant without James playing for them. That’s why after the King’s two stints with the team, no one actually paid attention to them in the past. That has now changed with the Cavs advancing and Mitchell’s heroics carrying the franchise in the postseason.

While they now face a more formidable opponent in the Celtics, Mitchell and the Cavaliers will try their best to replicate the magic they made against Orlando. If they succeed, the whole NBA will surely be shocked to see Cleveland succeed in their post-LeBron era, especially with Spida leading the charge towards a potential championship.
