NBA Analyst Throws Major Shade At Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant
Allan Henry-USA TODAY Sports

There is a lot of pressure on the Phoenix Suns heading into the final days of the 2023-24 NBA regular season. With only two games left, they are currently in the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference, which means they would be taking part in the NBA Play-In Game.

That certainly isn’t where the Suns expected with some of the moves they have made to their roster. Ahead of the 2023 NBA trade deadline, they acquired Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. This past offseason, it was Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards who they added.

They have gone all-in around Devin Booker, but the results have not been as positive as they had hoped. There are even whispers now that the Suns could move on from head coach Frank Vogel after one season if they cannot go on a run in the playoffs.

The path to a run in the NBA postseason will be a daunting one in the Western Conference. There are going to be some talented teams in the Play-In Tournament to get through and the top of the conference is loaded as well.

Given the talent on the roster, the Suns shouldn’t be counted out. However, one NBA analyst isn’t expecting to see much from them in the coming weeks. While talking on The Carton Show, Craig Carton took a shot at Phoenix, throwing major shade at Durant.

“Kevin Durant’s NOT that guy,” Carton said on his show.

The panel was discussing the embarrassing performance that the Suns put forth against the Clippers on Tuesday. They trailed by as many as 37 points in the wire-to-wire loss as they brought nothing to the court that night.

That performance, along with how they have looked this season, was enough for Carton to proclaim that the Suns will not be going far in the NBA Playoffs. In the above clip, he was referencing the Western Conference Finals, which would be a daunting task for a team playing as inconsistently as Phoenix, let alone one clicking on all cylinders.
