Eagles RB Saquon Barkley recalls 'Who's your daddy' moment with Fletcher Cox
Kyle Ross-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have a fresh face at running back after signing Saquon Barkley in NFL free agency.

Barkley isn't too new to Philly having grown up 50 minutes outside the city while also facing the Eagles at least twice a year during his first six seasons playing with the New York Giants.

The Eagles' running back joined Jason and Travis Kelce on this week's New Heights podcast episode where he expressed his excitement about joining the Birds.

He also shared the first time he played against the Eagles and his "who's your daddy" moment with Fletcher Cox.

"I remember Fletch tackled me my rookie year," Barkley recalled. "It was an impressive tackle because it was downfield and there's no reason a man that big should be at the spot making that tackle. And when I look up he's like, 'Yep, it's me again. I'mma be your daddy for the next 12 years.'"

Cox didn't last 12 more years in the league, having recently retired, but he did get the chance to chase down Barkley for five more seasons.

Barkley admitted he always admired the Eagles' trash talk and now he can't wait to be on the same sideline.

“I probably never imagined myself playing for Philly six years ago," Barkley said, "but I get to come back to Pennsylvania. My family is from Pennsylvania — my lady, our kids, grandmas, all that is from Pennsylvania — and we’re already close, and we can even get closer and get a chance to compete.

"I got to admire them from afar, admire what he [Howie Roseman] was able to build over there and get to be part of that culture. It was a no-brainer for me.”
