New York Giants Shockingly Select Wide Receiver Instead Of Quarterback In 2024 NFL Draft
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants have been expected to select a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft by most fans and analysts. The current quarterbacks on their roster include Daniel Jones, Tommy Devito, and Drew Lock, which has led many to believe the team would draft a quarterback in this year’s draft. Some analysts speculated that the team may have been bluffing about their need for a quarterback to make a trade with another team, and it seems that their assumptions were correct.

New York Giants Select Wide Receiver

New York selected former LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick in the draft, addressing their needs at the receiver position. Nabers was one of the top prospects coming into this year’s draft after a strong 2023 campaign with the Tigers, where he amounted to 1,569 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.

In his three-year collegiate career, Nabers went for 3,003 receiving yards for 21 touchdowns on 189 receptions. He started slow in 2021, only going for 417 total yards, and improved consistently every year leading to his superstar campaign this past season.

NFL Fans React

Many NFL fans were shocked that the Giants did not select a quarterback with their pick, especially with J.J. McCarthy and Michael Penix Jr. still on the board. Here are some of the reactions from fans poking fun at the team for their selection:

Did The Giants Make The Right Decision?

While some fans in New York are happy with the decision to draft Nabers, several fans are still not contemptuous of the team’s quarterback situation. Jones has been severely inconsistent throughout his career with poor play and injuries, while Devito and Lock have not proven that they can be starters in the league.

Do you think that the Giants should have selected a quarterback with their pick, or did they make the right call going with one of the top receivers in the draft?
