NFL fans saddened by latest update on Drew Brees

A recent update on former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees saddened NFL fans. Brees played his last snap in the league during the 2020 season after breaking numerous records for the Saints and the NFL.

Brees’ final season with the Saints was a stark departure from previous years. He didn’t seem to have as much arm strength to push the ball down the field. We have a better reason why after Brees talked about his arm during an appearance on ESPN's radio show “Greeny” Wednesday.

Per the transcription by ESPN, Brees said he’d still play in the NFL if he could, but he can’t throw a football with his right arm.

“Look, I’ll let you in on a little fact. I don’t throw with my right arm anymore. My right arm does not work," Brees said. "So, when I throw in the backyard right now, I throw left-handed.”

He suffered an almost-career-ending dislocated shoulder in 2005 as a member of the then-San Diego Chargers that put him "on the fast track to a degenerative shoulder and all kind of arthritic changes.”

He added again that he doesn’t throw with his right arm anymore, but “if I could, I would absolutely still be playing.”

NFL fans react to Brees’ arm update

It’s sad to hear Brees’ right arm doesn’t work a few years after retiring from the league. Hopefully, he can have a medical procedure done in the future to help him gain strength in that arm.

Fans reacted to Brees' tragic update on social media. Here are the best takes on Brees saying his right arm no longer works.
