Chelsea might well be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer, with doubts over a number of their current options.
Marcus Bettinelli has a contract running out in the summer with no sign of extension, Kepa Arrizabalaga is the favoured current number one but his form is often inconsistent, and Edouard Mendy has lost his regular number one spot to Kepa, putting question marks over all three of them.
However, a claim from one exclusive report today believes Chelsea have already found their new long-term number one in the shape of Gabriel Slonina, the young American goalkeeper that arrived from Chicago Fire recently.
Football Insider claim that Chelsea believe Slonina is capable of becoming the club’s long-term first-choice goalkeeper in the future.
However, they also say a loan move is likely for Slonina in the 2023-24 campaign as he looks to take the next step in his development, meaning they might still need to be in the market for a new stopper this summer regardless.
